Timing it around the season
The cruising season on the Andaman coast runs from November to May, when the northeast monsoon brings calmer seas. Most owners want the boat in the water by the start of that window, so we plan the loading date backwards from there, depending on where the yacht is coming from. Leave it too late and space on the ships gets tight, since everyone is aiming for the same few weeks.
The Phuket King's Cup Regatta at Kata Beach usually falls around late November and early December. If you're racing, allow extra time for clearance and rigging after discharge.
Where the yacht arrives
Phuket's deep sea port is at Ao Makham, on the east side of the island north of Cape Panwa. The exact discharge spot depends on the carrier and the size of the yacht, and we confirm it for each sailing. Chalong Bay in the south is the island's main anchorage and the usual place for a visiting yacht's first clearance.
Picking a marina
- Yacht Haven Marina in the north, with about 320 berths. It also hosts the Thailand International Boat Show.
- Ao Po Grand Marina on the northeast coast, facing Phang Nga Bay.
- Royal Phuket Marina and Boat Lagoon on the east side, close to each other and to services.
