Shipping a yacht into Mina Salman
Mina Salman is on the regular port list of the big yacht carriers in the Gulf, so there's usually a sailing that fits your dates. We book the space, send the cradle and supervise the lift. At discharge the yacht either goes straight into the water or onto a truck for the short drive to its marina.
Driving it over the causeway
For a boat that fits on a trailer, the road is often quicker to arrange. The truck crosses into Saudi Arabia at Ghuwaifat, drives up to the Eastern Province and crosses to Bahrain on the King Fahd Causeway. The causeway's truck lanes are being expanded, but they still have their own limits on oversized loads. We check the yacht's dimensions against them before we quote, not at the bridge.
Bahrain customs, in plain terms
Bahrain Customs puts yachts and boats in its "goods of special nature" category. The key document for a used yacht is the deletion certificate from the registry it's leaving. Without it the import stalls. Bahrain also allows temporary imports, usually up to 180 days, but whether that applies depends on the boat and how it's used. We check that with customs before shipping, so you know the costs upfront.
