Oman is the one place we can reach from Dubai either by sea or by road, and for plenty of boats the road wins. If your yacht fits on a trailer, it can leave a marina in the UAE and arrive in Muscat without ever going near a ship. Bigger yachts travel by sea on a carrier that calls at an Omani port.

Road or sea: which one fits your boat
By road
- Good for motorboats, sailboats and jet skis that fit on a lowbed trailer
- Door to door, from a UAE marina to your marina or boatyard in Oman
- We pick the border crossing to suit the load and the destination: Hatta/Al Wajajah, Khatm Al Shikla or Mezyad
- Oversize loads need road permits and sometimes an escort. We apply for them
By sea
- For yachts that are too long, wide or tall for the road
- Muscat's old Port Sultan Qaboos stopped handling cargo in 2014, so ships now use Sohar in the north or Salalah in the south
- The usual choice when your boat is coming from Europe or Asia rather than from the UAE
- From the port we deliver the yacht on to your marina
How the yacht sits during the trip
Owners usually worry most about the trip itself, so here's what actually holds the boat. Every yacht rides on its own transport cradle, shaped to the hull. The keel carries most of the weight and two long rails spread the rest along the bottom, so no single spot takes the pressure on a bumpy road or in a rolling sea. On a trailer the cradle and hull are strapped down before the truck moves. On a ship the cradle is fixed to the deck and the yacht is lashed in place before departure.
Papers you'll need for Oman
A foreign boat entering Oman needs an entry permit from Oman Customs. The file normally includes the registration certificate, a navigation licence and a temporary sailing permit. We prepare it, file it and handle the export side in the UAE, so the boat isn't stuck at the border waiting for a stamp. More on how we do this is on our customs clearance page.

- Your insurance details, or we arrange transport insurance for you

Can my boat go from Dubai to Oman by road?
Yes, if it fits on a trailer within the road permit limits. We book the truck, get the permits and clear customs at the border.
Which Omani ports take yachts by ship?
Mostly Sohar and Salalah. Muscat's old commercial port closed to cargo in 2014, so we deliver on to Muscat marinas from there.
Does a foreign yacht need a permit in Oman?
Yes. Oman Customs issues an entry permit for foreign vessels, and we prepare and file it for you.
