Kuwait sits at the far top of the Gulf, and most yacht carriers don't call there. That's why the road does most of the work on this route. We load the boat in the UAE, drive it through Saudi Arabia and deliver it to a marina in Kuwait. For yachts coming from further away, we plan a sea leg into the Gulf first and finish the trip by road.

From a Dubai marina to Kuwait, by road
The truck leaves the UAE at Ghuwaifat, runs up the Saudi east coast and enters Kuwait at Al Khafji, which is the main border for freight between the two countries. If Khafji is congested, the Al Ruqai crossing is an option, although it adds roughly 120 km. The boat stays under bond through Saudi Arabia, so no duty is paid there.
What makes a road job work:
- A cradle built for your hull, strapped to a lowbed trailer
- Shrink wrapping if the boat will face a long, dusty drive
- Saudi oversize permits when the load is over 3.2 m wide or 5 m high
- Customs paperwork filed ahead of each border, so the truck isn't parked for days
Yachts coming from Europe or Asia
A yacht shipped from the Mediterranean or the Far East comes into the Gulf by sea first. We choose the discharge port by the carrier's schedule and the boat's size, then bring it the rest of the way by road. You get one plan, one contact and one quote, even though the trip uses both.
Registering and berthing in Kuwait
Once the boat is in, it needs a berth and, if it's staying, local registration. Expats can register a boat in their own name if they hold valid residence, along with ownership, insurance and customs papers. Marsa Al Kout has about 150 berths, and Khiran Marina in the south is the other main option.
The Kuwait Marine Show returned in January 2026 at Khiran Marina, the first show since 2019. It's a sign the local market is growing again.

How do you move a yacht from Dubai to Kuwait?
Usually by road through Saudi Arabia, entering Kuwait at Al Khafji. Bigger yachts or boats coming from overseas combine a sea leg with the road.

No. The boat crosses Saudi Arabia in bonded transit.
